For a few of them, sure, the designs seem a bit busy to me (#118 Cahokisect comes to mind), But others, like #028 Terratetra and #098 Chardinite, look more like Pokémon than a lot of official Pokémon do.
Regardless, I'm almost certain it's not the "artstyle" that's putting you off-it's actually quite similar to official Pokémon artwork-but the unfamiliarity. Likely? As in you're not sure? Sage team obviously worked hard to make their Fakemons look as official and likable as it is possible and i must say, they succeeded. Pokemon Sage however takes things a lot more seriously. A game you play to have a little laugh with your friends and that's pretty much it. Clover seems more as a parody game than actual thing you would want to take seriously. I mean would your average Pokemon player want to use a Mon that has tree growing out of it's butt? I doubt it. The main thing that makes Sage better than Clover is the fact that Sage is more appealing to pretty much anybody while Clover seems to be mainly appealing towards 4Chan Community.
